Cultural Hotspot: ‘Find Your Element’ Signature Project Workshop

REGISTRATION CLOSED

The Cultural Hotspot shines a spotlight on arts, culture and community, inspiring new ideas about where culture thrives in Toronto. In 2019, the Hotspot is celebrating the vibrant arts, culture and community in North Etobicoke and York.

FIND YOUR ELEMENT

‘FIND YOUR ELEMENT’ Project, explores the four natural elements of water, fire, earth, and air through a variety art mediums such as painting, dance, eco-art, and music.

Water – The element of water will be explored and represented through the use of visual and mural arts. We will be using the Humber River and the earliest memories of water as an inspiration for community members and artists to explore and reflect on the history of York-South Weston.

Fire – Movement-based activities inspired by the element of fire.  Participants are invited to take part in expressive movement activities and learn about traditional dance forms to symbolically manifest the element of fire through dance.

Earth – Participants will create eco-art pieces using plant life and other organic materials while learning about the impacts of pollution and ways to sustain, conserve and preserve our natural environment.

Air – In this series of workshops, participants will be introduced to music creation through instruments specifically triggered through the use of breath and wind.
